Carlingford is awesome and definitely my favorite spot to go to, it’s a wee village on Carlingford lough about 20 minute drive from Dundalk
There’s a great restaurant there called the Kingfisher and great old school pubs in that village too, they’re all really good but one in particular is PJs and or Lily Finnegan’s.
The hiking there is top notch too and you can walk to any of the hikes right from the middle of the village. I would recommend staying few days.
A hotel to stay in county Louth I would recommend Ballymacscanlon hotel and also Carlingford has an oyster festival there every year which I heard is great but never been myself.
There are two locals I go to in Dundalk when go home, one is the railway bar which is just a solid local, nothing too different or extraordinary about it except it’s close to my house, ya know yourself how that goes but
There’s a great live music pub that I go to thats right beside the docks and it’s really cool spot too it’s called The Spirit Store
This is Darragh here, I’m going to add in Blackrock Village which is a lovely little seaside village just outside of Dundalk, very scenic views across to the mountains and you can drive over the mountains too which is a lovely drive.
Louth is not visited on all the must see lists for Ireland, so it’s a good way to get away from all the main tourist spots and see true Ireland for yourself. It’s only an hour from Dublin and another hour north brings you to Belfast.
